Paul Harrison

Paul Harrison is based in Worcester, England, after travelling around colleges in Bradford, Sheffield, Brighton and London. His advice for packing a travel bag is to assemble everything you want, but then get rid of anything you can do without.

Similarly, his advice for making pictures is to look at everything you might want, then get rid of anything that gets in the way. His paintings, then, are just the essential bits.

Paul likes lines, curves, edges and light, and works from real life, mostly in acrylics. He hopes you will be attracted to the shapes and colours from a distance, enough to move in to see exactly what is there.

He doesn’t much like explanations of art that can be a bit questionable. So his pictures don’t represent any social dichotomies, they don’t speak to the tensions between memory and desire, nor do they explore the discordance between what is seen, and what is not.
