Paulus Geeve (1958)
“... With my oeuvre I have been continuously working on exhibitions at home and abroad for the last 40 years. After 28 years having lived in the interior of South America and having produced many exhibitions in the big cities, a lot of those works of art are included in a range of international business, museums and private collections.
After a rock avalanche crushed my studio, my collection, etching equipment and tools, I started painting. With this I look at people and the interaction with their environment; I look at our direct climate and our habitat, but also at the corresponding local mythology, for our belief systems, for our convictions. These are things that intimately affect the stories of people.
We also see people with their inner culture, their dynamics, their sayings and the learning processes. History and behaviour. I am very fascinated with the visual language of those experiences.
Now the day and night go together in my paintings, they are well-connected. As above so below, our inner and outer worlds made visible. There is no darkness without light. These positions are strong and striking, their images are defined in striking images.
The man in the moon is for real, the night lifts ...
