I first began working in collage before I knew anything about art. After studying drawing and painting, however, I still find collage the most rewarding. I take particular satisfaction in turning mass-produced, throw-away materials (such as magazine photos and catalog images) into something unique and lasting. There is a particular type of curving line that feels both right and compelling to me, like a road winding out of sight that beckons me to follow it.
