Tamzin J Batteson

I trained at Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design in Auckland New Zealand, during which time I began to understand my eclectic love of color and style. During my tenure there I began to hone my passion for the juxtaposition and fight between human made structures, nature and time. My artwork is a direct reflection on how I perceive the world around me and understand my place within it.  I have always found inspiration in nature, our relationship with it, and the perception of space that I get from it. I find honest beauty in decay and dilapidation, from the colours and textures that emerge from the neglect. I think it is a reminder of how fleeting of time is here and ultimately how unimportant we are. I am also intrigued by the passage of time, of change, and changes in perspectives, whether that be of our individual self, or, from a female viewpoint. I am currently exploring these themes through mixed media (oil paint, ink and glaze), composite photography and alternative photographic process.
