Sanju Johnson

Currently I like making ink drawings on paper. The medium allows for a spontaneous and lively feel. Primarily lines have been my vehicle of expression. The sketchy drawing mode suits my temperament and allows me to convey my characters and forms the way i want them to come on paper.
I get inspired and energised from various sources. German Printmakers, Comic book illustrations, Traditional indian paintings to various activities i indulge into like sports or travel. I derive my subjects from observing people around me. This also chiefly includes my self expressions, experiences and the ever changing truth which i find facinating.
My drawings are a result of spontaneous thoughts and momentary facinations. At times i depict figures/characters with contained energy and at times i like to explore the falcidity. I feel letting your sub concious driving things at some level while you are in the act of creation brings out you.
Black and white and the innumerous shades(greys) lying between them fascinates me and my exploration is still at a nascent stage.
I have travelled and stayed over various parts of India and have enjoyed the folks and cultural experiences in each place. Family, friends, my pet dog and my Art are my indulgences.
