Immersing herself in rich cultures for months at a time influences artist, yogi and writer Deirdre "Didi" McKay. "Three months is enough to let the colors, scents, textures, artifacts, history and costumes of a culture seep into my psyche and trickle onto my canvases, into my sketchbooks and photographs," she reflects. India, Vietnam, Sicily, Mexico and Peru have added to her artistic works, as well as Morrocco, France, Spain and the deserts , coasts and mountains of the United States.
Portraits and abstract works by Didi are in collections in Europe, Australa and the U.S. and her children's books have made there way into libraries across the globe.
Didi has a B.A. in Art History and has studied Organizational Behavior at Harvard. Starting out as an assistant at a Madison Avenue art gallery in Manhattan, she always loved creating art, exploring mediums, learning. Trained and employed first as a journalist and later as a museum educator, Didi created hundreds of museum programs and events.
