EDUCATION

Born in Rotterdam ( Netherlands) in 1941, Ton van Os holds a Master Degree in Visual Arts
from the Rotterdam Academy of Visual Arts.
Since 1962 he is working as an independent painter and a graphic artist.
His works has evolved from realism to a conceptual, lyrical non-objective style.
They have been internationally exhibited in various museums and galleries, in solo and group shows.

During the last thirteen years of the past century Ton van Os has created, at other things, series of works dedicated to the painter Paolo Uccello and the composer Johann Sebastian Bach.

The last ten years his source of inspiration is both the music and the writings about
music and visual arts of the American composer Morton Feldman.
In these ten years he has made more than eighty mostly large paintings in black and white, in
bright colors,, in glittering silver and in sparkling gold.
Paintings of space and sourceless, invented light with shifting structures and patterns in which, as the Dutch composer Anthony Fiumara wrote in his review MorTon,
paradoxical themes are discussed as dynamic stasis, chaotic order,
unpredictable repetition, intuitive austerity and ringing silence.
