Marc Vandermeer

Marc VanDermeer who goes by the online nom de guerre, VanDi, is a mixed media digital artist from the USA. A traditional abstract artist started painting at the age of ten. He was initially taught by his artist/sculpture and poet mother, Carol Levy Vandermeir. His formal art education began at the Philadelphia College of Art (UArts) in 1971, graduating with a degree in film in 1976. He followed with continued part-time education at SVA, Parsons, and Silvermine School of Art.
Working across a pastiche of artistic genres and style in a creative mélange of thought-provoking fantasy and surreal imagery.
His body of work expresses his flirtation with photography, painting, and digital media. He is crossing modern expressionism, street art, collage, classicism, landscape painting, pop art, minimalism in an artistic mash-up of award-winning art.
VanDi explains, “Legacy for me is paramount; I see myself as carving that legacy each time I produce something new.” When asked to define his style or influences, Marc replies It’s challenging to describe my current style, which is dictated by both anatomical observation and mood.
