If every fraction of a second is pregnant with hundreds, if not thousands, of possibilities, why are many people too precious with a single frame of their camera?
A single frame says only a little about a place or a person, but my pictures aim to convey more. Using a "Hybrid" camera, I gather around 300 pieces of a place or person, and reassemble them. Usually taken over a period of 20 minutes, things move, people move, the sun moves; life gets in the way. My pictures therefore experience a set of moments rather than just a single one.
Born in Portsmouth and educated in London, I now divide my time between the UK and Japan, where I have lived for 7 years. When I am not photographing, I lecture in Digital Imaging and Visual Communications, and am currently experimenting with combining digital media with Victorian processes.
