RECOGNITION
Memories of places visited are the catalyst for my paintings. They are created from the emotions, sounds, colors, forms and textures resonating in my imagination, capturing the essence of the landscape. Both ephemeral and atmospheric, my motivation is to convey the life force energies of what was.
Layer on layer of oil paint is applied, using glazes, scumbling and scraping techniques to create the essence of the landscape. Each painting is a compilation of my photographs and memories of places traveled where abstraction merges with reality to evoke an emotional response.
