My work oscillates between the arts and the sciences, the real and the imaginary, the contemporary and the ancient, the dark and the luminous, the abstract and the figurative, the monumental and the infinitesimal, the eternal and the ephemeral, the controlled and the spontaneous.

Since my childhood near the North Sea, I've had a strong bond with nature. There I find diversity, wonder, inspiration, meditation, materials, respect and refuge. The resulting artistic creations (Les Radios de la méduse, Häckel & Lesueur, De Rerum Natura, Systema Naturae, Should I stay or should I go, Ciels & Moor, Beuys Band...) may just reflect the beauty of these observations/experiences, but also seek to incite a different attitude, to alert us to the fragility of living things, to symbolize the cyclical rebirth of life or the processes of evolution.
Nothing ever really dies.

As a lifelong artist with a doctorate in art history, I like to combine the visual arts with art history, ancient art with contemporary art, practice with teaching, science with art, in my creations and in my professional life.

My art teacher, a pupil of Beuys (“Every man is an artist”), probably gave me a taste for experimentation and personalized creation.

My university studies (I.S.AV. medieval art; and Conservation, Restoration and Contemporary Art Management; Chinese and Japanese; biology) have opened up multiple horizons and inexhaustible sources of inspiration (from calligraphy to Asian painters, from bestiary to popular beliefs of the Middle Ages - thanks in particular to my thesis on corbels/modillons in Romanesque churches, from human sciences to marine biology and, of course, from German art past and present, East and West).
