Flycat Luca Massironi

1. Origins and Early Steps (1980s)
Luca Massironi, artistically known as FLYCAT, was born in 1970 in Milan, the city where he lives and works. His entry into the world of art started early: in the 1980s he came into contact with the emerging Hip Hop culture i Italy and, at just thirteen years old, decided to explore all of its components. He soon recognized writing and the alphabetic sign as his privileged field of action.
His first experiments appeared on paper, clothing, and urban surfaces, using pencils, markers, and spray paint. From this pioneering energy emerged his first crews: The Fabulous Sprayers (TFS), founded with his friend Sher, and later, in 1988, Pals With Dreams (PWD), created with Spyder-7 with the ambitious goal of turning Milan into a “little New York.”
2. The American Masters and the International Turning Point (1990s)
In 1991, during a trip to New York, FLYCAT met Phase 2, one of the fathers of writing. A bond of friendship and exchange was born, profoundly influencing his artistic evolution.
In 1995 he was welcomed into the historic crew The Fantastic Partners, led by Kase 2: there he learned Computer Rock Style, a visual language that would become a hallmark of his research.

4. Artistic, Editorial, and Musical Activities
Since 1998 he has curated the Aerosol Art section of Aelle Magazine, contributing to the diffusion of urban art culture in Italy.
In parallel, he developed a musical path, collaborating with The Psycho Realm and Sick Symphonies, with whom he released the 2006 album Our Sign, recorded in Los Angeles.
His works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad and belong to permanent collections including the MuCEM in Marseille.
The Istituto della Enciclopedia Italiana Treccani describes him as an original interpreter of the art of writing.
In 2009 his portrait appeared in The Knight, a mural by Retna and El Mac in South Central Los Angeles.
5. Projects, Collaborations, and Institutional Activities (2016–2025)
In 2016 Flycat collaborated with students from the Academy of the Arts in Tehran on a collective work dedicated to cultural dialogue.
Between 2022 and 2024 he collaborated with BMW, designing the “Urban Camouflage” livery for the CE 04 electric scooter and participating in the social program SpecialMente.
In the same period he became a lecturer at BDC School in Milan in the first S.T.E.M. course dedicated to Writing and Urban Art.
