About Cecilia Sullivan
I live in Gig Harbor, a coastal town in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. My paintings are inspired by this region while hiking beach trails, coastal prairies or beach combing. Visually imprinted childhood memories of flying through fields on horseback or daydreaming looking skyward at clouds inspire an expansiveness in my works.

Paintings emerge from a paint sketch or mark making, staying open to what surfaces in my imagination. I enjoy using expressive color and exploring light affect using juicy textural brushwork in harmonious color palettes. My spontaneous painting process incorporates sgraffito, a method of scratching into wet paint to reveal under color for textural value. At times I will work with long handled brushes standing over paintings to keep me loose and expressive.

My hope is that my paintings convey a sense of tranquility and beauty found in the everyday each time we step out our door, wander a trail or take a road trip. My works are included in corporate and private collections throughout the United States.
