Li Chen

Li-Chen / David Ličen. The artist was born in 1975 and completed his secondary education at the Secondary School of Design in Ljubljana, following the study program of Industrial Design. In the academic year 1994/95 he attended Famul Stuart School of Applied Arts, and graduated in graphic design from the Academy of Fine Arts of Ljubljana in 2000. The same year he matriculated into the Master’s program at the same academy, completing his first year in Helsinki, Finland. He is a member of Slovenian Fine Artists’ Association. Between 2002 and 2006 he taught graphic art at Famul Stuart School of Applied Arts in Ljubljana.
In 2011 he was awarded a work grant for illustrating Book 19. Over the past years he has been awarded several purchase and jury prizes for his paintings at the Ex-Tempore Events in Piran.
Since September 2003 Li- Chen (David Licen) has been running the Centre for Arts and Design Licna Hisa in Ajdovscina together with his wife.
