Kayla Irving

I am a UK-based graphite artist specialising in highly detailed pencil portraits of both animals and people.

Drawing has been a lifelong passion of mine for over 20 years, and through careful observation and patience I aim to capture the character, emotion and individuality of each subject.

Working primarily with graphite and charcoal on paper, my process focuses on building subtle layers of tone and texture to create realistic depth and lifelike detail. Each piece is created entirely by hand and can take between 12 and 30 hours to complete depending on the size and complexity of the subject.

Much of my work celebrates the beauty and personality of animals, from the softness of fur to the expressive quality of the eyes, but I also enjoy creating human portraits that capture subtle expressions and character.

Through my drawings I hope to create pieces that feel intimate, timeless and emotionally engaging.
