Fred Bargeon paints and lives in a nomadic lifestyle

He was born in 1974 in Toulouse, France, in a family from Catalogna. His grandfather, Lucien Bargeon, was a famous actor.

In 1981, he moves with his mother to the Pyrenees mountains. He spends several years in a countryside commune. From this time on he develops a very deep bond to nature.

He comes back to Toulouse in 1986 where he lives with his father and starts an urban life, in complete opposition to his former life in the countryside.

With his human experiences and by pure chance he becomes a social worker in Toulouse then Paris.
Through his work he finds out that adults’ and children’s lives can be tourmented and devastating. He feels incredibly moved by what he sees.

He is totally invested in this works until in the early 2000 and randomly again he turns to publishing.

All these different experiences give him an accute sense of empathy and compassion.

This is when he discovers that he has inherited the gift of healing from his father’s family. This gift leads him to developing the use of canvas and brushes and expressing himself through painting. In 2012 he produces his first painting. From there on he becomes a full time painter.

They tell another story, another possible reality, where a sentence or a word can converge with the abstract story line of his painting.
As a self educated man, Fred Bargeon has been influenced, among others, by Basquiat, Pollock, Nicolas de Staël, Fabienne Verdier, Kandinsky, Rothko. He gets his inspiration from literature, music and dance such as Bill T.Jones, Isadora Duncan. He also gets inspiration from his genuine and deep emotions and feelings about life. Painting is an act of freedom and release.
It’s a political act regarding our society full of limitations and dogmas. But his hope comes from a diverse and multicultural world with a better understanding of differences. His work finds its ...
