Helen Collingborn

I enjoy exploring colour and painting with acrylic and water colours paints. I did my painting late at night (when sleep evaded me...or just the peace and stillness of the night) especially whilst being a full time teacher as well as bringing up my family. I was widowed early and was a single mum. I met and married my husband in the UK where I now reside and taught here until I retired in 2020. As the children flew the nest, I finally was able to indulge in my love for painting. Born in Kenya before independence, I saw the traditional life give way to modern living and enjoy painting what I saw and can see occassionally letting the colours rule.... e.g. The Colourful Jumbo. It makes me smile and wonder what one would think if they encountered one such as he in the real life! Some of my work show glimpses of the past ... looking into the future e.g Looking At Our World.
