Sallie Strand’s journey began in the culinary arts, first as a pastry chef and later as a dietitian. Growing up with an artist father and an interior decorator mother, she was immersed in art and color from an early age. Though primarily self-taught, Sallie has refined her skills through master workshops in oil, acrylic, and mixed media.
Drawing inspiration from her background, she finds striking parallels between baking and painting, often incorporating baking tools to create texture through layering, mark-making, and scraping. Her ever-evolving work reflects her curiosity, creativity, and deep appreciation for the beauty in the world.
Sallie’s goal is to spark curiosity, contemplation, and joy in her viewers, leaving them inspired and smiling. She lives and works in Gloucester, MA, and has recently been spending extended time in Santa Fe, NM.
