James Cowan

I studied at Chelsea School of Art in London and have an M.A. in Fine Art. I have been a tutor with the UCA/Open College of the Arts where I taught on their BA (Hons) Painting and Fine Art Degree programmes. As a painter I work in watercolour ,acrylic and oil and as a printmaker I specialise in etching. My subject matter varies but tends to centre around cities I have visited so there is an ongoing series of work based on New York and St Petersburg. As as a printmaker I have been engaged in a series of Drypoints of London's new high-rise buildings, mainly around Vauxhall.

My latest one man exhibition was at the Riverside Gallery in Richmond where I showed a 'Series of Triptychs' .
Other exhibitions have included the The Sunday Times Watercolour Exhibition, the Discerning Eye Exhibition, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour the Pastel Society the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Watercolour Society.
