my pictures, frequently interpreted as autobiographical statements, are not intended as mere reproductions of reality on canvas. instead the coherence and intensity of colour as well as the indomitable tension present in my work have a haunting effect on the viewer, drawing them into a new world of fantasy and the abstract. my style could be described as one of expressive emotions: a fleeting yet concentrated approach to drawing and painting compressed and unfolded solely from the quintessence of an array of brief moments. above all, however, it is the use of colour in my pictures which engages people. in the work, the medium of oil painting does full justice to my powerful expressiveness. the concept of finally giving colour the space it needs to achieve its full effect turns my pictures into a gripping experience.
