Maxine Davidowitz

I'm a painter and printmaker based in Woodstock, New York and New York City. My work is a slightly hallucinatory, abstract exploration of the natural world and the feelings it evokes. Recent work expresses my concerns about the threats to our environment.
Though I've been an artist all my life in some form or another, my earlier professional life included work as a creative director for major consumer magazines.

BA, George Washington University and the Corcoran Gallery School, Washington DC. Woodstock School of Art: watercolor with Staats Fasoldt, printmaking with Kate McGloughlin, painting with Don Elder. Anderson Ranch workshops with Annie Lapin and Leslie Shows; ArtNewEngland workshop with Claire Sherman; Individual study with Ilana Manolson: Ballinglen Arts foundation workshop with Nuala Clarke. Awarded residencies at Cill Rialaig Project, May 2019, and Brush Creek Foundation, May 2020 (cancelled due to Covid).
