When I was traveling regularly to the Metropolitan Museum of Art as a New York City kid, and putting up postcards in my high school locker of Renoir and Degas, I had no idea that someday I too would get to contribute visual art to the cultural fabric.
The act of painting is an intimate party for me. Putting the first few strokes of paint on a fresh canvas feels like I am diving into a celebration where my mind and body get to dance.
I create witty and whimsical pieces that celebrate glamorous eccentrics. My pieces display a delicate, cheeky elegance as well as a breezy merriment, and they are filled with a droll sense of humor. I experience a stylistic kinship with the 19th century as well as the 18th century and the 1930s and 1940s: grace, charm, formality, beauty, wit. I want my viewers to feel like they are invited to the party and that the people in my paintings are their marvelously engaging and stylish friends.
