With every time that I touch clay, it responds, but it also has a mind of its own. I love to listen to the clay, and to help it become the form it 'wants'. The resulting art piece is a record of the conversation with the clay.
These are more than just happy accidents; my works are the result of carefully 'listening' to the clay, and guiding it to form. My explorations are focused on form, and comprise several series or veins of exploration.
I am educated in ceramics from both the technological standpoint (BS, MS, and PhD in Ceramic/Materials Engineering/Science) and from the artistic standpoint (Master Classes, Workshops). This combined background provides me with great freedom in exploring form to the fullest capability of the clay.
