I love to explore the familiar, everyday moments that we don’t think twice about, let alone see beauty in. Having spent much of my childhood in rural NSW, where nothing much grew except tussock and rock, I learnt to see beauty in simple moments without sheen. I am very attracted to the stories that seemingly banal scenes or objects evoke, and am compelled to find their beauty and form.
I love to paint alla prima - there is an immediacy of working with the luscious materiality of oils that is very special, and when the magic happens, it’s a truly wonderful thing!
