In my paintings I explore heritage, identity, and the duality between the past and present. My work meditates on place, finding a sense of belonging, and intermingling histories and memories. The narratives are rooted in both my biological Swedish background and my daughter’s Chinese family, with imagery frequently sourced from family photo archives. My work explore this imagery as well as a confluence of my own memories of a place or situation, and signify feelings of a loss of a larger personal narrative and a search for new bonds and identities.
