ABOUT
EDUCATION

In my gallery, you will see all directions my art drove to. I will gradually add works ranging from drawings and illustrations through paintings, and assemblages to objects and digital works.

I've been a painter for 30 years now, graduated from Nicolas Copernicus University, Toruń, Poland and
Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, Scotland. My last 'educational goal' was to gain a Ph.D. in visual arts in 2015.

I was also a scholarship holder of The British Council (1995-96), the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2005, 2009), the Mayor of Toruń (2005, 2008), the Stellwerk Zollverein, Essen, Germany (2006) and the Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship (2021).

For the past years, my theme in art has been mostly animal-related, especially the topic of normalizing cruelty towards animals.

My works are often marked by the passage of time. I often use old canvases, repaint paintings, and make collages. I consider this an interesting effect of "aging" the work, a continuation in the process.

My current artistic activities can be followed on the FB profile - Iwona Liegmann.
I also invite you to the YT channel.
