Born in 1984 in Luxembourg to British parents, Elinor Rowlands (FRSA) is a visual, sound and word artist who currently lives and works in London.
Inspiration
Elinor finds her inspiration in both the natural world and the urban environment. Her observations of people, nature, poetry, music and photography all contribute to her artwork which is an expression of emotions through these encounters. Colour is the master stroke and these colours can be vibrant and bold with vivacious jewel-like colours drawn from nature and her own internal landscape while the subtle blues and greens of the sea and sky recur in many of her paintings. Elinor paints from her interior world across a rich territory which she uses as an endless resource. Dreamlike and meditative layered spaces are created in a fast-paced action and gesture and using her hands Elinor maps out and feels her way across the surface to connect with it directly. Portraits are painted in response to quiet moments when she communicates through her painting in a conversation of sorts with her immediate contacts. Their eyes gaze at us, expressive and kind.
Elinor uses a variety of media, experimenting with acrylics, inks, oils, watercolours, oil pastels, glitter and resin and often...
Elinor has a Bachelor’s degree in film and Television, Aberystwyth University, Wales, a Post Graduate Diploma in fine Arts, Central St Martin’s, London and a Master’s in Art Psychotherapy, University of Roehampton, London.
