Vanessa Storoniak

Vanessa is a visual artist based in Toronto, Canada. She loves to camp and ski in the beauty of Northern Ontario. She is in awe of the magic of nature and aims to convey it as abstract compositions.

Vanessa has designed extensively for the online marketing industry and continues to use digital technology to draw - from her imagination - "snapshots" of magical moments in nature. She is motivated to refine the snapshots using acrylic on wood panels to reveal combinations of vivid colours. She also loves to use sharp edges and a flattened surface to impart an overall modern and graphic impression.

You Are My Rock is a collection of paintings that continues to explore Vanessa's reverence for nature. Every painting represents a moment of clarity when she's in nature. Because it's peaceful, Vanessa finds it profoundly calming, satiating, and regenerative. Whether she is tree-bathing in moss-covered forests, swimming in a large body of water, or walking in an inner-city green space, she takes in those moments. They fill her with gratitude. Mother Nature’s beauty is her motivation—to aspire for well-being, no matter how complex life becomes.

Vanessa has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University in Toronto, Canada.
