Kris Vega

I am interested in working with 2 and 3 dimensional work. Since my graduation I experimented with different media and lately I am working mainly with acrylics.

I incorporate 'icons or pictographs' which are so intertwined with our perception in our 'modern' life. They have meanings which are recognized and acknowledged worldwide. Their shape and message is understood in every continent, in every country, by humans of any age. These 'visual representations' cover public space and also our virtual space that transcends beyond language as a form of communication, seen in our PCs, mobile phones, branding, telecommunication, transport etc., so in almost all walks of our current lives.

I am interested to 'capture' these visual representations and 're-frame' them as an art form. I am intrigued by the human interaction through symbolic meaning, by its usage as a form of visual communication. They convey meaning through pictorial resemblance of our surroundings. These are traces of our current evolutionary path, through utilization of technology, for our progress as human beings.
