Pierre Gogois is a French artist, who was born in 1935 (20th century). He lives and works in Paris, France.
In terms of style, between 1957 and 1967 Pierre has mainly worked as an abstractionist. During the second decade of the 20th century, his style changed as he experimented with different theories and techniques. After 1967 he started to explore different techniques, especially late works of Titian. His pictures are dominated by landscapes, urban landscapes, and still lifes. Artist is interested in the expressive potential of paint, in catching the immediate and transitory effects of light and shadow. He renders not a landscape, still life or portrait but the sensation produced by them. What Pierre Gogois paints looked like what you would see if you were standing on that site at that time of day with those climatic conditions. His artworks demonstrate the spontaneous language with its strong and obvious brushstrokes, colors which brash rather than blended and heavily worked surface with its reflective areas. This surface texture is one of the aesthetic hallmarks of Gogois' paintings.
Artist was trained and has mainly worked in Paris, France.
PRESS
Pierre Gogois was published in "The Benezit Dictionary of Artists" which is known as a publication of bibliographical information on painters, sculptors, designers and engravers created primarily for art museums, auction houses and historians, with his signature.
