Mariam Gevorgian is a Moscow artist from Armenia, a student of Nikolai Kolupaev and Ivan Polienko. The main characters of her paintings are children, teenagers, and adults interacting with each other and immersed in personal affairs and experiences.
The artist describes her style as naive realism. From the point of view of a naive realist, reality is what one perceives through one’s senses, as well as what one thinks and knows about the sensually perceived world. The concept of naive realism implies the primacy of feelings over reason. That is the way of perception children usually use and this is why she expresses the thoughts and feelings of the inner child in her paintings.
Her works are in private collections in Russia, Georgia, USA, Kanada, Kazakhstan and Armenia.
