Christy Sverre

My work reflects the mood I find in the land and seascapes.

My creative process is intuitive and expressive. I start by adding texture to the canvas, then make my marks freely. Layer by layer, I let the painting take shape, constantly adjusting the composition and taking risks to uncover new possibilities. I work mainly with acrylic, pouring and scraping the paint and adding lots of texture. Each piece is unique, with its own story to tell.

Growing up on the west coast of Canada, the sea has always been my source of energy. I learned to sail at a young age and continue to sail with my husband on our boat, Take Five. Art has always been my calling, and I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Victoria. Over the years, I've developed my expressive style and showcased my work internationally as well as locally on the Sunshine Coast of BC.
