Serdar Akpınar (b. 1968, Istanbul) studied painting at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and graduated from Prof. Adnan Çoker’s atelier in 1998. He also studied lithography with Alaaddin Aksoy as minor. He applied a large quantity of mural works, in various technics including paintings, texture and relief. Between 2011-2013, he worked as supervisor and painter on the project titled “The role of visual art in public spaces” with Ksantist collective.
In his artworks, he is interested in how things, people or spaces gain a distinctive characteristic as a result of the process of taking shape and position within usual flow in everyday spaces. His artworks range over a variety of subjects from crowds of people to jerry-built buildings, from interior to exterior spaces, when focusing on the relationship between these disturbing elements and environment in which they exist.
