Ventzislav Piriankov is a Bulgarian living in Poland. His paintings are an expression of the artist's vision, full of color and rich material, embedded in the aesthetics of Byzantium, Balkan multiculturalism and Orthodox icons.
The subject matter of the works touches on existential, intimate human matters, distributed between the poles of the sacred and the profane. However, both spheres differ significantly from realistic analyses, they are embedded in symbolism close to Platonic ideals, the profane sphere is transferred to a spiritualized space and put on a pedestal on a par with the sacred. In each subsequent composition, the artist searches for a synthesis of opposites, the realization of harmony, deliberately idealizing the painting space. It eliminates all divisions and uncertainties, creating monuments of harmony consisting of universal concepts of Beauty, Good and Love. In Piriankov's painting you can clearly feel the Byzantine splendor, on the one hand the monumentalism of Orthodox icons, and on the other hand, their warmth, closeness and tenderness. This is an expressive, multi-layered painting, the painting material itself constitutes an important space in the artist's creative process.
