Edith Meijering

In this recent work, Meijering explores the tension between people and nature and between humans and animals. From (defenseless) cuddlyness to cruelty, from colorful and soft to dark and hard. Precisely that duality is what Meijering wants to record in her work and make it visible and tangibleto the viewer: “Seducing and teasing my works, but there are also others,less comfortable layers. You could read my work asa rebus: what do the different elements stand for? Every picture element has a meaning in itself, but how I combine them creates a kind of alienation. And with that alienation I want to be amazed and touch the viewer in his soul. ”
