Iliana Mack

From the start creating art was spontaneous. I was a little kid picking up a pencil or a crayon and drawing anything and everything - houses, mountains, friends at school. It was just there - the desire to make pictures with whatever I had to hand. From as early as I can remember, I wanted to create art in one form or another. When I told my family how I wanted to study art at the Academy, they said I couldn’t, that I should study for a job in accountancy instead. But there were art classes at school and two years later the art teacher managed to eventually persuade my parents to let me try. I was accepted, graduated and went on to work as an architectural designer shaping the insides and exteriors of buildings.

Outside of work I painted, as I always had, learning new techniques but with the goal of putting my own unique stamp on whatever I created, so that people would look at a painting and know it to be one of mine. And this is what drives me, along with the intense satisfaction of people liking my art enough, my tiny vision of the world, to have it on their walls and look at it everyday.
