Luis Ángeles

Visual artist born in 1984 in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. His work blends tradition and modernity, exploring the Caribbean's cultural richness through color, light, and texture.

From an early age, he showed an innate passion for art, starting with comic strips. His artistic development began under the guidance of master Gilberto Cruz, who inspired him to explore both classical and contemporary techniques. He later complemented his training with studies in interior design and photography, broadening his conceptual and aesthetic perspective.

With a career spanning over 15 years, he has participated in local and international exhibitions, earning two national awards and several recognitions for his contribution to Dominican art. For more than a decade, he played a key role as a drawing and painting instructor at INFOTEP, sharing his knowledge with young artists and reinforcing his commitment to the social impact of art.

His academic background includes a Technical Degree in Interior Design from INFOTEP (2009-2011), complemented by a certification in Fine Arts (2012-2021) and methodological training for facilitators (2011) from the same institution. Additionally, he refined his skills in drawing and painting for ten years at Matiz Art Workshop and Painting School (2004-2014), solidifying his artistic technique and knowledge.

Luis Ángeles is a multidisciplinary visual artist from the Dominican Republic, known for his vibrant and socially conscious works. With a diverse body of work that spans realism, abstraction, and figurative art, his paintings explore themes of nature, sustainability, and human connection. He has exhibited in both solo and group shows, including Naturaleza Muerta at Galería Enmarcado Profesional (2010) and Metamorfosis at the Palacio Consistorial (2017). His art has been showcased internationally in Black and White at the Museo Unión City in New Jersey, USA (2016), and in national exhibitions such as Recrear a Chasseriau at the Galería Nacional de Bellas Artes (2016) and Arte Expresivo at the Instituto Dominico Americano.

Luis has received multiple awards for his work, including First Place in the National Painting Contest Agro y Naturaleza (2016) and the National Youth Painting Contest Valores (2019). His commitment to environmental and social themes was recognized with a Special Jury Mention for ''Conciencia Ambiental'' (2018). His works blend technical mastery with a profound message, making him one of the emerging voices in contemporary Caribbean art.
