Hugo Castilho was born in 1995 in Setúbal (Portugal), where he currently lives and works.
His sculptural paintings are poetically and humorously dramatized through figures of people, animals, and elements of nature. They portray thematic scenes of social criticism and awareness, such as inclusion and biodiversity, inspired by moments from his daily life and nostalgically distant memories.
He holds a BA in Visual Arts and Multimedia from the University of Évora (2016) and a Master's in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon
(2021).
He has presented several solo exhibitions including:
- E na volta voltas a repetir a volta (2025) and Deita a palha ao burro e come tu também! (2022) at Galeria Arte Periférica in Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisbon, Portugal)
- Memórias de uma mente imatura (2023) at Galeria Municipal do Montijo (Montijo, Portugal)
- Ainda acredito que o céu é azul (2023) at Casa da Cultura (Setúbal, Portugal)
- Falinhas-mansas (2022) at Casa Bocage (Setúbal, Portugal)
Collectively, he participated in:
- Drawing Room Lisboa (2021) at the National Society of Fine Arts, represented by Galeria Arte Periférica (Lisbon, Portugal)
- Wild Card at Balcony Gallery (Lisbon, Portugal)
- Colónia de Férias (2023) (Évora, Portugal)
- Hearts on Fire (2023) at Galeria Plato (Évora, Portugal)
- A vida é um emaranhado de nós (2019) at Zet gallery (Braga, Portugal)
