A native of Zafra, a small and historic town located in southwestern Spain, José Manuel Salazar is a painter who has worked continuously since his beginnings, with color as the central element in all his work. Throughout his career, he has held various exhibitions in different parts of Spain. His graphic work is closely related to his painting. He has also collaborated as a graphic designer, creating posters, logos, and illustrations for various campaigns and publications. He has received several awards, including the Eugenio Hermoso International Painting Prize and the Nicolás Megía National Prize.

A graduate in Fine Arts, he began his studies in the 1980s,
initially in Seville, at the Faculty of Santa Isabel de Hungría.
He later moved to Madrid, where he completed his studies,
specializing in Painting at the Complutense University.
