Nahum Flores

Born in Honduras. Lives and works in Toronto, Canada.

My mixed media work is a fusion of drawing and matter that is intuitively processed. This mode of working gives voice to my subconscious. The results are expressive figures and forms, which reflect my concern of the human condition and of the devastation of the natural environments. Although scenes depicted are often bleak, they also reflect my sense of humour.

I grew up in Honduras, a place where there is a mixture of Catholic and Indigenous beliefs, which are reflected in daily life. Honduras has been affected by wars, as well as devastated by hurricanes and other natural phenomena.

The syncretism of its traditions, and its social and environmental issues has affected my perception of life, and in turn, affects how I depict the world around me.
