Andreea Zahn

I resemble myself and my artistic evolution with the tough process of producing and painting the silk. Although the thread seems to be so frail, it passes through boiling water, grasps, twists, bleaching, drying and weaving and in the end it comes out being part of a noble fabric, full of strength a nd luster. In the hands of the artist, the silk passes once more through hot wax, dyes, heat, steaming and washing to become a work of art that can be worn, touched and felt. The first part of our lives and the first part of my becoming as an artist had to pass through the hands of others to be roughly polished and shaped, but our becoming as the ones we want to be has to pass through our own hands, minds and hearts. My artistic expression is strongly bounded to my becoming: a woman, an artist, a person.
