Life at home started for me before the pandemic. By the summer of 2019 it became increasingly clear that the hip replacement surgery that I had been delaying for years was necessary. Being unable to move freely made my relationship with dance particularly fraught, so I started placing more emphasis on my drawing and object-making, thus resuming work in a medium I have used since before I could write complete sentences. I had my new hip and was ready to graduate from Physical Therapy to dancing when the pandemic closed the dance studios in 2020. By then, drawing had become a regular habit, and one that continues to help me sort through ideas. I get inspiration from lonely walks, novels, things around the house, and my window…
