Vincent McDonnell was born in West Sussex, England, but has spent most of his life in Northern Ireland, where his creative journey began. He graduated from the Art & Design College in Belfast in 1982 with a degree in Graphic Design, specializing in illustration and silk-screen printing. After working as a freelance illustrator, drawing tutor, and graphic designer, Vincent briefly shifted focus to study theology before returning to his true passion for art. Since 2001, he has been a full-time professional artist, dedicating himself to his craft. Vincent’s primary interest lies in portraiture and figurative art, with a focus on using diverse media to explore the human form. While his commissioned portraits often reflect a realistic style, he has recently expanded his work to incorporate elements of symbolism and surrealism. Drawing inspiration from both memory and imagination, he enjoys experimenting with new techniques and visual narratives. His approach to art is driven by an unwavering curiosity and a refusal to be confined by a single style, allowing him the freedom to explore and evolve continuously.
