In her earliest memories, Alice de Miramon was always surrounded by old books, newspapers, prints and illustrations, with their faded, near illegible lettering, dreaming up imaginary authors of these ancient writings. As then, her house still abounds with old papers of various origins, imprints of the past that graduallly accumulate, taking on a patina over time. Early on, she became captivated by the contrast between the motifs and the colors of different works, later feasting her eyes on engravings that would later influence her work. Passages from poems began appearing on her paintings, barely visible in the finished work as though draped in a veil of timidity... She inherited a love for the poetry of Cocteau, Prévert, Verlaine, Baudelaire... The first buddings of a rich, dreamlike vegetation, taking root in the artist’s contemplative reveries. Diverse influences such as naïve oriental painting, the Douanier Rousseau, or even the ancient gildings of old paintings, reverberate, creating a rich visual language, a luxuriant garden.
