BIO: A self-taught artist, Santiago started his career very young as a graffiti artist. Being open to different art forms has given him a broad perspective to mix uncommon materials, drawing tools (such as markers, crayons, charcoal and pastels) with an intense colour sensibility. In Paredes work images are born intuitively, presenting always an ambiguity in the way emotive colour and intelligence of desing get togheter. The shapes are intentionally unclear, not perfect, the meanings are open, ambivalent, suggesting the state of the world as the artist perceives it. His creative work incorporates a wide variety of themes including, society contradictions, both abstract and figuration, humor and observation of natural world and man´s relationship to it. In Santiago iconic and minimalistic large scale line drawings on plush fabric and his personal technic of pastels chalk on rubber looks very freely, but deliberately. He describes his own work as ´a way of reasoning on canvas´
