iam: Mirroring Artwork

I create interactive visuals that encourage communication and understanding between otherwise separated peoples. My hope is to create a visual expression that is universal and can unite people through a shared emotional experience. My early experiences as a refugee and immigrant in the US have informed and driven my interests in unification and understanding. My work often expresses an internal emotional or psychological state that is then heightened by its environment. All aspects of the composition serve to express an emotional condition. Displayed are two of my most recent and ongoing collections. 'iam' tracks my personal experiences as a woman. The portraiture collection, 'Public vs. Private Face', contemplates how the body and its representation, alters a woman's realization of herself. How does our presentation of ourselves alter both the way we represent ourselves?
