EMAIL: BIO, STATEMENT & CV I am a retired Pathologist and Cancer researcher with an art addiction that has driven me back to school several times. My Art Work includes two separate but overlapping streams which include the use of acrylic paint on canvas or board, mixed media, assemblage and installation using found materials. In my message based work I research and comment on the environmental impact o f the Anthropocene. As this work is Science communication ,clarity of the message is required. for this reason I use narrative tools, similes, metaphors and written statements usually in the form of poetry. The goal is to engage the viewer long enough to receive the message. The second type of work is more personal and is abstract or semi-abstracted and I work intuitively using texture colour and shape. The triggers are memories of personal places, events, words/ poems and very frequently music. Although Abstract in type; some of my work is more representational and contains personal symbols or narrative. Some of these are easily interpreted by the observer in a way that matches my own, but there is always a degree of ambiguity that allows the observer to insert their own narrative
