ARTIST STATEMENT "Luminous Heritage, where Tradition Meets Transformation" As a visionary artist known as Godfrey Chukwuebuka, I weave together the vibrant threads of cultural heritage, tribal wisdom, and modern flair to create mesmerizing works that celebrate the beauty of human diversity. My artistry is rooted in the rich soils of African tradition, where ancestral wisdom meets innovative expression. Through my use of neon, fluorescent, and glow-in-the-dark mediums, I illuminate the majesty of the human form, adorned in outfits that blend timeless cultural motifs with contemporary fashion sensibilities. My subjects embody the dynamic tension between heritage and progress, inviting viewers to revel in the splendour of cultural fusion. In my paintings, traditional African patterns and symbols converge with modern style, forging a new visual language that transcends borders and boundaries. I seek to honour the resilience and elegance of indigenous cultures while embracing the fluidity of identity in our globalized world. By casting my subjects in radiant, ethereal light, I highlight the inherent value and dignity of every individual, regardless of background or origin. My art is a testament to the enduring power of cultural legacy and the boundless potential of human creativity. Ultimately, my art invites viewers to join me on a journey of discovery, where cultural heritage and modernity converge in a kaleidoscope of colour, light, colour psychology and beauty.
