I wanted to play with materials and create something that had a lot texture while also creating a sense of calm. I like the mash up of the rough surface next to the almost serene meditative colors. I hope the piece pushes out noise in someones head and allows them to focus in on something desirable.

Cristina Silvestri b. 1984 is an interdisciplinary artist based in Chicago. Cristina is first generation American and spent much of her life in Italy where her family still lives. In 2006 Cristina moved to Florence, Italy to pursue art and be closer to family. She returned to Chicago in 2008 and has continued her art practice. Although she is primarily a painter, she is interested in creating dimension and pushing the borders and frames of painting.
