"Gary Whitlock is a young up-and-coming artist exploring his curiosity in oil and acrylic paints. Juggling a full time job and his painting can be difficult but he is determined to become a full time artist in the near future. In 2001, Gary Whitlock started to express his interest in the arts while studying at the Arnewood School in New Milton and at the age of 16 he achieved a GCSE in Art and Design at the highest level. Gary went on to study A level Fine Art at Brockenhurst College where he experimented with mixed media and life drawing. There after, Gary ventured West to the Plymouth College of Art studying a Foundation Degree. It was here where Gary also developed a hand for installation projects and media based work pushing his artistic boundaries ever more. Gary graduated in 2010 and since then he has been painting varied subjects with the love for vintage style and nostalgia which incorporate cars, bikes, objects and the human figure within advertisements. Much of Gary's time has been devoted to commission based projects which have spread by word of mouth, the subjects being extremely versatile creating an ever ending challenge." I have work for sale at Some Artwork is available in the saatchi saleroom. Influenced by a great deal of artists, to name a few: James Paterson, Norman Rockwell, Robert Rauschenberg, Kathe Kollwitz, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Da Vinci, Pollock, Degas, Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, John Langdon, Katy Connor, Ludovico Einaudi. I love how certain objects can give me the challenge of so many materials and textures and so I usually find my self painting cars. I like to paint people aswell to try and capture an essence of 'Life'. Find me on Facebook - 'Whitlock Art'.
